Question
LTD return to work? What if I require training or want to continue education, will I continue to receive payment during this period?
I have a couple questions? I don't want to inquire to LF, but I am wondering if I may be getting close to the buy out timeframe with Lincoln? I thought maybe I could return to work part-time? I am young (62) and I miss my career but there is no way without current training iI could return to my job. Before I had my event, I was continuing my eduction towards a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I was also a Major in the Army Reserves (I became non-deployable due to my illness and decided to retire). I applied to return to school about 1 1/2 year ago with Purdue, but I had such awful headaches I had to abort the application. My family is discouraging returning to work, as they see me continue to have debilitating migraines and spells which cause me to miss many events days at a time. I also know LF will probably drop me and if I can't work or get hired, I will be in a worse position. I am so discouraged. While on LTD as you know, you can't do anything or even try something creative as you could get accused of falsifying forms. I feel like my life is controlled by Lincoln Financial. I would appreciate your professional insight to these questions.
Thank you
Answer
If you are still unable to perform the material duties of your occupation or any occupation then yes you should still qualify. Also the carrier may have a retraining program they would be willing to enroll you in.
