Question

If a dependent turns 18 in December, does Lincoln subtract their dependent amount from LTD payments even though child is now an adult and receives benefits directly until graduation?

Lincoln is paying $200 month minimum but will be paying about $800 month after dependent SS is no longer subtracted from LTD. Does this amount increase after last dependent turns 18 or after they graduate? My last dependent turned 18 in December and will receive this amount directly until they graduate this May. But, I am not receiving dependent SS. I asked for an increased amount and they said they need a letter from the SSA.

The dependent offset is lifted only when the SSA provides written notice it is ending. Typically that is at high school graduation. Around that time you can expect to receive a letter from the SSA that the dependent benefit is ending (and the date it is ending). Provide that letter to Lincoln and they will start paying the amount withheld for DSSDI.
