Dell & Schaefer Supports the Elizabeth Smart Foundation
Dell & Schaefer is a proud supporter of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation (ESF). The Elizabeth Smart Foundation mission is to empower women and girls with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively protect themselves against violence and abuse.
Born in Utah in 1987, at age 14 Smart was abducted from her home in June 2002. Held captive by a fanatic named Brian David Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Barzee, Smart was repeatedly raped, drugged and forced to endure religious rituals, until earning her freedom in March 2003. She has since become a noted activist and author, launching the Elizabeth Smart Foundation in 2011, authoring My Story in 2013. Following her experience, Smart married Matthew Gilmour in 2012, and they have two children together. Her successful career as an activist allows her to share her advocacy for abduction and kidnapping victims.
With Elizabeth at the helm of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, education programs provide the fundamental understanding vital to recognizing and confronting abuse and sexual violence in all its various forms. ESF uses every platform available to reach women and girls to empower them through physical, mental, and emotional self-defense classes.
Partnered with experienced therapists and specialists, the ESF provides online content, podcasts, and resources focused on prevention, trauma, shame, and recovery.
By educating the public on:
- what sexual abuse is
- how to recognize abuse
- the many common side effects
- where to turn for help
The Elizabeth Smart Foundation provides hope to those who find themselves in the blackest abyss of pain, isolation, and fear.

Attorneys Dell & Schaefer Support the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
As supporters and members of the United States Holocaust Museum it really meant a lot to see that the Miami Heat basketball team recently visited the Holocaust Museum in DC. Today we face an alarming rise in Holocaust denial and antisemitism—even in the very lands where the Holocaust happened—as well as genocide and threats of genocide in other parts of the world. This is occurring just as we approach a time when Holocaust survivors and other eyewitnesses will no longer be alive. During halftime of the recent Miami Heat game on January 30, 2014, the following video about the Holocaust Museum was played for the entire stadium.
A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. Federal support guarantees the Museum's permanent place on the National Mall, and its far-reaching educational programs and global impact are made possible by generous donors. Located among our national monuments to freedom on the National Mall, the Museum provides a powerful lesson in the fragility of freedom, the myth of progress, and the need for vigilance in preserving democratic values. With unique power and authenticity, the Museum teaches millions of people each year about the dangers of unchecked hatred and the need to prevent genocide.
Since its dedication in 1993, the Museum has welcomed more than 36 million visitors, including 96 heads of state and more than ten million school-age children. To learn more about the museum or to become a supporter of the museum please visit http://www.ushmm.org/support.
Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program
Angel Tree History
The Angel Tree program is one of The Salvation Army's highest profile Christmas efforts. Angel Tree was created by The Salvation Army in 1979 by Majors Charles and Shirley White when they worked with a Lynchburg, Virginia shopping mall to provide clothing and toys for children at Christmastime. The program got its name because the Whites identified the wishes of local children by writing their gift needs on Hallmark greeting cards that featured pictures of angels. They placed the cards on a Christmas tree at the mall to allow shoppers to select children to help. Thanks to the Whites, who were assigned by The Army to the Lynchburg area at the time, more than 700 children had a brighter Christmas that first year.Three years later, when the Whites were transferred to Nashville, Tennessee, Angel Tree was launched in the Music City. WSM radio, which airs the Grand Ol' Opry, came on board that year as the first Angel Tree co-sponsor in the U.S.Because of the on-air promotion on WSM in Nashville, as well as national publicity on CNN and the Larry King Show, news of Angel Tree spread across the country like wildfire.Angel Tree History Provided by the Salvation ArmyAttorneys Dell & Schaefer Support the MD Anderson Cancer Center in their Fight Against Cancer
