Episode 20 A Senator’s view of ERISA disability insurance claims
- A Senator's View of ERISA Disability Insurance Claims (Ep. 20)
This video features the testimony of Montana United States Senator Max Baucus at a Senate Finance Committee Meeting. Senator Baucus focuses his testimony on the problems with ERISA disability insurance laws and the unfair claims handling practices of disability insurance companies.
Senator Baucus pays specific attention to two long term disability insurance claims that were wrongfully denied by The Standard Insurance Company and Hartford Financial Insurance Company. Senator Baucus states that Insurance companies engage in abusive tactics by having doctors with conflicts of interest review claims. He further notes that “loop holes in the law” permit disability insurance companies to get away with these abuses.
Disability insurance Attorneys Gregory Dell and Stephen Jessup provide further analysis of Senator Baucus’ congressional testimony. We are thankful to have a pro-claimant advocate such as Senator Baucus.
Please note: Disability insurance attorney Gregory Michael Dell created Disability Insurance Law TV in order to educate long term disability claimants about common issues related to long term disability insurance claims. New episodes are filmed on regular basis. Our disability videos are for informational purposes only and they are not legal advice.
