The people making decisions at New York Life aren’t even physicians

I was assaulted at work by a charge person and now I have a panic/anxiety disorder and I am on STD leave from that job. This is the second time I have been off. The first time I was off, New York Life drug it out and never made a decision on my claim for 2 1/2 months only to deny my claim. This time they are doing the same thing and my physician told me at my appointment yesterday that the New York Life representative grilled him and acted like he wasn’t qualified to have me off work. The real kicker is these people making the decision are not even physicians they are merely RN’s. No physician looks at your paperwork! Ridiculous

Anita, You are correct that the person making the decision on your claim is not a physician. New York Life usually has your medical records reviewed by either a nurse or a physician. The real issue is whether your medical are fairly reviewed. The person that called your doctor may have been a nurse or physicians. Make sure your physician does whatever possible to support your claim.
