Question

LTD canceled their request for updated med records?

Asked on March 11th 2025 by Rifraf
I am at 18 mo into my LTD and my physicians received requests for updated medical records a month ago. My policy changes to any occupation at 24 mo so I assume this request relates to that change. They (NYL) haven’t asked for any medical updates for a year although they talked to me re SSDI about 6 months ago. It’s been taking a few weeks for my two physicians to put together the records etc. Today I looked at the portal and saw that the records request had been canceled by the claim manager. It also said “invalid authorization” which I’m unclear on since there is a valid authorization from me. Do I need to panic, since the records are pending, but I can’t afford to be denied because they didn’t get records in time. A month seems short when many doctor’s offices take quite awhile for these things. Note they didn’t contact me at all only my physicians. I don’t normally look at the portal since I’m sick. Thank you.

Most Authorizations are only good for two years so depending on when you signed it, it may no longer be valid and NYL will request that you sign a new one. Alternatively, some doctor’s offices require that the carrier use their specific authorization, which again would require that you execute and return to NYL. Finally, you can request a copy of your updated medical records from the relevant physicians and submit on your own.
