Question

LTD Denial United Healthcare - Hartford

Asked on September 5th 2025 by Acinderblock
I have Parkinson's and DM 2. I worked for United Healthcare (Optum) as a HCC Medical coder. Hartford is LTD provider denied for Preexisting condition. I was a contract employee for several years before I was made FTE. Hartford is saying that because I was diagnosed before I became a FTE and I followed with my Dr's and was prescribed meds this is pre existing. I have been diagnosed for over 5 years my supervisor knew. It got to hard to do my job, stiff, slow, tremor... I was getting conflicting information from both Hartford and UHC HR. This is the short version of my story. Yes I have copies of denial letters and everything else.

My question is should I try to fight this? (as for state I live in AZ but worked remote for UHC-Optum out of Tennessee)

This is a complex issue and you should have your policy and denial letters reviewed by a disability insurance attorney in order to determine what kind of recourse you have and if the decision can be challenged. Please contact us and ask to speak with one of your disability insurance attorneys.
