Was Unum right to stop my disability at age 65?

Turning 65 my disability was stopped. A year before i asked my case worker when will it be stopped and she told me it doesn’t. I’ve been drawing s/s disabily since 2005. I wouldn’t have been able to get s/s till i turned 67 or 68. Were they right in stopping it at 65?

Tom, If your policy only provides coverage to age 65 then that is all you would be entitled to. I suggest you obtain and review a copy of your policy as to the maximum benefit period. Many do provide benefits until your normal social security retirement age is reached, but just as many still limit benefits to the age of 65.
