Question

What are my options?

Asked on April 23rd 2025 by Victor
I had total knee replacement for my right knee about 2 years ago and was out for maybe 6 weeks and then back to work with no issues. On March 9th of this year I fractured my right ankle and left tibia directly under knee joint. Filed claim with Unum, claim denied because of in their words "history of total knee replacement", this was only reason given. I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure my metal knee has no affect on my ankle. Do you think I have a case?

It sounds like Unum is trying to assert a pre-existing condition limitation? To know better what your options are we would need to see a copy of the denial letter and policy.
