Question

How can UNUM’s dr.s make a judgement having never seeing me?

Asked on March 23rd 2016 by Donna
Unum said they had 2 of their drs. look at my chart and they are closing my case after being on ltd for 10 years. My dr. talked to their drs. explaining my case and they are still going to close my case. Recently Social Security did a review of my claim and they say I am still disabled. How can UNUM’s dr.s make a judgement having never seeing me. A real doctor won’t make a judgement based on talking on the phone or reading your chart why are these quacks able too. I suffer from Fibro, panic, anxiety to the point I don’t leave my house very often. I am also having some thyroid issues and arthritis. I just started with a rheumatologist and I will be seeing her again in a month but we haven’t established my condition yet but 10 years ago I saw one at the VA and she diagnosed me and said my condition wouldn’t likely get any better most likely worse (which she was correct) I am very scared they are going to get away with this. I do get social security and I am thankful for that but it isn’t enough to pay the bills. What should I do? I am still waiting to hear back from them because they are looking into the new doctor but in the meantime I don’t know if I am still denied or if they are reconsidering. The stress is killing me and making my condition worse.

Donna, typically, Unum would not advise you they are still speaking to your doctors about restrictions and limitations if your claim was in fact fully terminated. However, from what you have shared it does appear that Unum is certainly moving in that direction. Please feel free to contact our office to discuss your claim in greater detail.
