Question

Can Unum deduct any SSDI that my children receive?

Asked on November 19th 2015 by Jackie B.
I have been awarded SSDI for myself and UNUM is entilted to an offset, that I understand and I realize it is retroactive. They are also trying to collect any award that my two minor children may receive. They are not the insured, I am. Can they also deduct ay SSDI that my children will receive?

The overwhelming majority of employer provided policies list primary SSDI as well as dependent SSDI (the amount your child receives on account of your disability) as a source of Other Income subject to offset under the policy. So unfortunately, the chances are- yes.
