Can I still fight UNUM for denying my STD and LTD?

I have a question, as I didn’t know that there was a lawsuit against the Insurance Co. My situation is really confusing but to try and break it down, leaving a lot of trips to the Hosp, being admitted 2 times, each for 2 weeks for pain control. I had 2 Neck surgery’s, I dealt with severe Nerve pain and through my employer, I was offered a option to purchase long term insurance and the Company paid the STD. I was in upper Mgmt, for a large Co. The end of 09, I was taken off work due to severe Neck Spasms, Nerve pain and I couldn’t turn my head. The Dr, wanted me to take a 5 1/2 wk PT program to help to learn to live and deal with my neck pain. While I was off for the first 3 Months, I had a really hard being paid, they would pay me and then I would get a Denial notice and my Doctor would again fill out the papers and they would pay some and then stop. This went on for a month or so. While I was going through PT, my Doctor had me do a neck and the throastic area, at the same time the flu was going around and I wasn’t feeling good as I thought it was flu, my primary decided to have a X-Ray of my chest and they found a mass in my lungs. The pain clinic Dr, who I have had for over 10 yrs, said that the PT is too stop until they find out and clear up the mass in my lungs. I immediately recieved a letter from Unium again, stating that I wasn’t off for my lungs and therefore they were not going to pay me. I am typically a person who can handle a call like this but when your sick, can’t move, it makes it extremely hard. There is a lot more but the end result was that I applied for SSDI, for my neck and after hiring a Attorney, was approved. I should of been approved for all of my short term as well as Long Term pymts and I was simply in too much pain to fight them as I ended up having 2 major back surgeries and I actually watched the commerical and want to know if I can actually still fight them? I couldn’t believe they did nothing but harass me the entire time that I was in so much pain. Can someone help me?
