Question

Can I reopen my short term that Unum denied?

Asked on October 16th 2015 by Pls help me
I’ve been off work since march, Unum denied my short term and closed it. So I submitted in writing for long term. In the mean time from short term to long term, I did get my long term. But I found out that I have fibrmyogia, with the other two that go with it. It took doctors to diagnosed me from march to now. Can I reopen my short term?

Pls, I would send a copy of the LTD award letter to the STD department and demand payment of your benefit. The argument is that you were awarded LTD benefits after satisfying the elimination period (which corresponds with the STD period) so it doesn’t follow logically that Unum STD could determine that you were not disabled at a time Unum’s LTD department found you to be disabled.
