My disability monthly payments have been unlawfully cut off

Reviewed by Michael Itzo on April 5th 2015   Verified Policyholder
My disability monthly payments have been unlawfully cut off. I have been collecting LTD benefits for over two years and now Hartford has cut me off and wants me to refund over 16K$ back to them. I am unable to work and also am collecting Social Security disability. This was because of a auto semi-truck accident. I was paid an award from a law suit against the truck driver. This award was no where near enough to cover my losses and is not all compensation for lost wages. Hartford is stating that the award is all wage compensation which it is not. No where in our contract allows Hartford to dictate what my award money is to be used for. The award was not taxed as it is not income.

Michael, please feel free to contact our office to discuss. We will need a copy of the policy as well. Many policies contain subrogation rights if your disability is caused by or in part by the negligence of a third party. Regardless of that an administrative appeal of the denial will need to be submitted.
