Hartford dragging their feed on my STD

I’m speechless. When I Googled “The Hartford complaints” I didn’t expect to find SOOO many. The interesting thing is that I did find a website in my search results that’s on The Hartford’s website, which is a complaint form to fill out that supposedly someone from there will respond to. I filled that out, clicked Submit, then got an Access Denied error…they’ve disabled the complaint form submittal… I wonder why. With me, I haven’t actually been denied yet, but they are dragging their feet with making a decision on my STD. They approved my FMLA on/about 6/26 after receiving the completed form from my doctor on 6/21. They have yet to update my STD claim, which has been sitting in ‘pending’ status for weeks now. I’ve made 3 subsequent follow-up calls and every rep replies with the answer that the claim rep has 6 days to review and update. So when I called on the 7th day they said they were not sure why nothing has been done, but they would add a note to my account for the claim rep. This is now day 12 and the claim is still pending and I am without pay. Not quite sure what to do.

C.J., Hartford can be very difficult to deal with and, as you can see, they upset many people! The laws governing your claim do allow them some time to render a decision on your claim. Depending on when you filed the paperwork, they could be well within their allotted time or they could be in violation of the law.
