Question

Will Hartford deny my benefits if I was denied for SSD? Also, if Hartford has to pay 2 years unless my husband can work a job similar to his old one, will they try to make him work a less demanding job and pay the difference or will he not work for 2 years?

Hartford required that we apply for ssd. We did and were denied. Does this mean that Hartford will probably drop our LTD policy also? Also there is a clause saying Hartford has to pay for 2 years unless my husband can work a similar job as he was before. (50-60 hrs a week on his feet in retail with publix supermarkets) does this just mean they will try to get him to work a less demanding job and pay the difference or he wont have to work until his 2 years are up?

Kassie, denial of SSDI benefits alone is not a basis for Hartford to be able to deny the claim, but would be used as part of any review for “any occupation” benefits. Additionally, if the policy does not contain “partial” or “residual” disability benefits there wouldn’t be a situation where Hartford would pay a percentage of the benefit if your husband is working. If you or your husband have concerns regarding his claim please feel free to contact our office to discuss.
