Question

Why is Hartford asking me if I have a lawyer?

Asked on October 6th 2016 by TSA
I was denied benefits siting pre-existing condition during the look back period because of knee pain that was diagnosed Patella Femoral Syndrome, after therapy and patella brace, I had no more treatments. I applied for short term disability benefits after I torn my meniscus 1/19/2016. Received benefits. Return to work post arthroscopic 3/15/2016. 4/12/2016 I reapplied for Short Term Disability after experience post open complications. 6/15/2016 I was notified that I would be going the LTD, which never happened. I was Denied those benefits 9/2/2016. I have filed an appeal. Now I have received a phone call asking if I had a lawyer. I do plan to retain a lawyer however, the instruction on the denial letter stated if the denied my appeal that would be the next process….my concern I’d why are they calling and asking me that question?

TSA, if you have a lawyer an insurance company will likely not speak directly with you.
