Question

What should I do if Hartford changes their policy to terminate my LTD?

Asked on May 20th 2015 by Charles Frederick
My name is Charles Frederick, I have been receiving The Hartford Longterm Disability since Aug 12th 2013. I received a letter that they are going to terminate my LTD on Aug 12th 2015. This was after my Dr sent filled out their examination papers and stated that my condition would not increase beyond what it is now. They are saying that since it doesn’t say I am totally disabled I can do another job and they don’t have to pay on the occupation that I had at the time. This is a future change to their policy made to be effective August 15th 2015. Is there any recourse or legal action you and I could take?

Charles, The letter should detail your rights to an administrative appeal. Under ERISA based disability policies an administrative appeal must be filed prior to the filing of any lawsuit. Please feel free to contact our office to discuss how we may be able to assist you in appealing the denial of benefits.
