Unum

Unum has no sympathy for disabled people!!

Unum did not and says they’re not responsible for paying my FDIC tax portion of my LTD disbursements. Meaning to me your not required to pay (I’ve never not played my taxes if made aware). I have not/ever received a 1099? form from UNUM! My disbursements were auto deposits, thus I wasn’t aware? Now w2 “tax time”2017 I’m made responsible for the due amount?! I believe their seeking retribution for what they called an “overpayment”; when your not working and bills, nothing is an overpayment!? WHO DOES NOT PAY FIC TAX? On the W2 they voluntarily took out every other TAX due!!? In my present condition (post-op symptoms from another surgical procedure and degenerative disc disease) I’m unable to work anywhere right now! {less than 2yrs out}! UNUM has made errors, overpayment, over sight (intentional/unintentional FDIC updates) and now the disabled party should pay!!!?? I did, their premiums to keep them in business and THIS IS MY THANKS!!?? WHO HAS NO SYMPATHY FOR THE DISABLED / INFIRMED? I Guess UNUM? I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE A POSITIVE TESTIMONY BUT I’M IN PAIN!!

Craig, you should immediately contact a tax professional (ie. CPA or tax attorney) to discuss your options. The disability insurer is not your employer, and although they have a legal obligation to report any taxable income paid to you, they are not necessarily required to pay that tax to the government on your behalf.
