Prudential

Not sure if it’s worth fighting these corporate vultures

Advertisements on my government job indicated that Prudential would supplement our disability plan, if we became disabled. My employer pays 50% of my salary Prudential’s contribution is suppose to be 10%. A couple years ago, I found out that I had a disabling medical condition. I struggled for two years, exceeding my FMLA time the second year, until I reached retirement age. My employer approved my disability request as did Medicare. Prudential is another matter all together. First they balked at doing an intake for my claim, it took several phone calls. Before receiving my attending physicians statement, I was barraged with questions about “what date I was returning to work” and received an invasive questionnaire about my KSA’s (knowledge, skills and abilities) and educational background. With due diligence, I researched Prudential, policy language, and their abuse of claimants online. The commentary here has been most helpful. Very thankful that I’m not completely dependent upon them. The policy cost me approximately $2000.00. Not sure if it’s worth fighting these corporate vultures for the 10%.
