Prudential

I was sold a policy that I cannot use and no one will show me the policy

I had Prudential STD and LTD through my employer. I received my STD with no problem. Started receiving LTD for a while, then Prudential said I owed them because I receive SSDI. I have been receiving SSDI since 1992 and have always worked while disabled. My STD claim started June 2019 and LTD claim November 2019. My 1992 disability has nothing to do with my current disability. I was sold a policy that I cannot use and no one will show me the policy.

Jacqueline, in many cases a disability carrier cannot offset for SSDI benefits that were in place prior to the date of disability under the applicable policy. Your employer/former employer would be responsible for providing you a copy of your policy – I would recommend you contact HR to request a copy. Please also contact our office to discuss your situation further as I do think you have grounds to fight the offset.
