MetLife wants to end my benefits at age 62

I just got a letter from MetLife asking for disability information to send to their life saver unit. I have been on long term disability for 20 years. It was my understanding that my long term employment disability ends this month since I just turned 62. I will be receiving some pension from them. It is also my understanding that the group life insurance they paid my premiums on ends now too. About 5 years ago I contacted a woman at the department of labor about having to continually filling out these forms and sending them in every year. The woman wrote me back and said I did not need to keep filling them out since social security had determined I was unable to hold down ANY JOB; that I no longer needed to complete these. I sent that letter to them. I never received another request to have a physician complete disability paperwork. They sent me a claimant form for about a year or so then stopped sending them altogether. What’s up with this now? I live in the state of Texas. I just received this today and not had a chance to call them and ask why they sent it. The letter says I have 45 days to send this back. I found you by looking up “what is MetLife life saver unit” on Google.

Carren, when your LTD or Life Policy expires depends on the language of the policy. I have not seen too many policies that end at age 62. Most provide benefits through 65 or normal social security retirement age. Regarding the documents you have received, please contact us for a free consultation. We will request that you send us the correspondence you received so that we can discuss them.
