Question

Do I have to sign and return MetLife's authorization to disclose my info in order to continue my claim?

Asked on October 24th 2020 by Pete
MetLife sent me a Authorization to disclose information about me form to sign and return. I have been in LTD for nine months and they are asking for me to sign and return the form. Is this really necessary to continue my claim? I am no longer employed with my former employer and the document states they can share my medical records with employer.

Pete, in most cases you are required to sign and return the authorization to Metlife. Failure to comply could lead to your benefits being interrupted or your claim being denied. If you are concerned that Metlife may use the authorization improperly you should consult with an attorney to discuss your options.
