Are Field Interviews Required for Disability Claims?
It really depends on the policy language. If it says in the policy that they are required to submit to a field interview or submit to an independent medical examination then, obviously, they have to do it. But if it doesn’t, I think it’s really a grey area. I think, in the abundance of caution, it would always be prudent to go ahead and participate in a field interview. Because, as I tell my clients – Listen, you have a legitimate claim, you are telling the truth, you don’t have anything to hide. Sit down with them and tell them what’s going on with you.
