Question

Can The Standard threaten my credit?

Asked on October 22nd 2012 by Andrea
The Standard denied my long term disability claim and I am now on appeal with them and SS. They sent me a letter from attorney’s threatening my credit. My analyst stated they should not be sending me these kinds of notifications. I need to know my rights and expediate my approval for LTD. I have been approved for disability/retirement through the state of GA.

Andrea, The Standard Insurance Company should not be threatening your credit. If there is an overpayment to you, then they can try to collect it from you. However if you are appealing a denial, then they should not pursue any actions against you until completion of your Appeal. You may have an offset in your policy for benefits your have received from state of GA retirement.
