Question

Overpayment from Boston Mutual

Asked on June 27th 2025 by Panda
I received a large check from Disability RMS/Boston Mutual and deposited it in the bank thinking it was mine. They called and said to call them about repayment and it was their error. I am no longer receiving Disability because I hit FRA 2 years ago. I spent about 18,000 of the 109,000 dollars. This is not the first time they have made admitted errors on my disability claim. They once sent me a check stub but no check, they sent me a 27,000 dollar check about 10 years ago in error and they gave me a runaround for months and months about they sent my checks. I had to get the CA Attorney General involved and she made them overnight (FedEx) my check for a couple years. Any suggestions? I have not returned the call to them that came in yesterday.

If you were overpaid benefits in error then you are not entitled to keep the money and are required to return it to Boston Mutual. It is no different then if they mistakenly underpaid you. They would be required to pay you the correct amount.
