Question

Can I live outside of the United States and collect long-term disability insurance benefits under my individual or group long-term disability insurance policy?

My LTD benefit has been more than a year after the 24-month limitation and approved SSA disability. Do any employer-sponsored LTD policies like NYL/Cigna/Reliant/Prudential/etc. has limitations on residency requirements? Where does it say? I plan to live out of the country for more than 1 year. How difficult it is to win the case if my insurance terminates my LTD benefits? Have you seen a lawsuit in regard to this kind of situation? Thanks.

The answer to your question is contained within your disability policy. Some disability policies do not allow you to collect disability if you live outside of the US for more than 12 months. To answer your question we would need to read your long term disability policy.
