If not the SPD, what document contains the official documentation for my benefits?
I spoke with Alex during about my claim and he mentioned the Summary Plan Description (SPD) for Long-term Disability is not the governing document for my benefits. If not the SPD, what document contains the official documentation for my benefits?

Your long term disability plan document is the governing document and in many cases the Summary Plan Description is a summary of the Long Term disability plan terms. It depends on who your disability company is as with some companies there is specific language that states the SPD is not part of the policy.
