Each state in the United States has their own department of insurance responsibile for the regulation of disability insurance companies. In order for a company to sell insurance products in a particular state, they must be registered with the department of insurance in each state. Most states have invesitigatory divisions that will monitor and enforce the regulations applicable to each insurance company.
